Lawson is TWO months old!

Jack Lawson Rogers, you are TWO months old! 

What are you up to?

You are still eating about 4-5 ounces of formula per feeding but not quite as often.  Every once in a while, you will eat more.  One afternoon, you ate 8 ounces for your daddy! We finally found bottles that you like.  We tried several, but settled on Dr. Brown's bottles.  They helped so much with your gas!  

You sleep great!  You typically go down for the night anywhere between 7:00 and 8:00 and sleep until 5:00 or 6:00.  You very rarely wake up before then.  Mommy and Daddy are very thankful for this!  Up until the last couple of nights, you still loved being swaddled.  Now you sleep in a sleep sack so your arms are free.  You love laying in your crib kicking your legs and moving your arms now!  You are very happy in the morning, you laugh and giggle so much!  

Your newborn clothes no longer fit!  This makes me very sad.  You are still in size one diapers, but I think this may be changing soon also.  

You haven't had your 2 month well-check yet, so I'm not sure exactly how much you have grown.  I took you to work one day to visit and mommy's friends helped weigh you on the mail scale.  You weighed 10 pounds and 11 ounces then.  Most recently you weighed a whopping 12 pounds on the scales at home!  I know you've gotten longer because your gowns and sleepers are shorter on you.  I can't wait to see just how much you've grown when we go on the 17th for you appointment.  

You still LOVE being outside.  Brenna is loving it too because she definitely is getting walked more.  You love looking at the lights.  I think you will really enjoy our sunroom when it cools down a little.  You still love bath time.  You just lay there and smile.  

You have gotten so strong during the last month.  You hold your head up great and kick with such force.  Future soccer star, perhaps?  Daddy is encouraging you to roll over, but I'm not ready for that yet.

You recently started paying attention to the dogs.  Mainly Brenna because she follows us everywhere we go.  Brenna is so sweet with you.  She lays so patiently while you lay on her.  She has no idea what she is in for as you get older.  Jaxxon has backed off a little.  He still sniffs you, but not every 5 minutes like before.  

 

I think I'll probably end up saying this each month, but how is it even possible that you are already two months old?! It seems like just yesterday, you were an itty bitty baby!  You are developing the cutest little personality already.  We love watching you laugh and smile, and of course, your bright blue eyes!  We can't wait to watch you grow.  You are such a special little baby and have filled our lives with such happiness.  Mommy and Daddy love you so much, buddy!

 PS - Your Grammie, Nanny Norma, and Aunt Brooke came to visit you for a few days, but somehow we didn't take not one picture of them, so they deserve a 'shout out'! 

Lawson is One Month Old!

Jack Lawson Rogers, you are ONE month old!

How in the world did this happen so quickly?!

What are you up to?

You eat every two hours like clockwork during the day! You've gone from eating barely 2 ounces to typically eating about 4 ounces of per feeding.  You were on breast milk for the first 3 weeks and have been eating formula every since.  You switched over seamlessly!

Until the last few nights, you normally would sleep from about 10:00 until 2:30 and wake up to be fed and then sleep again until about 6:30 when Daddy feeds you your morning bottle.  Lately, you've been sleeping a little longer and even slept from 10:30 until 6:00 one night! It was wonderful!!  During the night, you wear a Swaddle Pod and you love it.  You've been sleeping in your nursery since you were 19 days old!

You mostly wear newborn clothes, but we've been putting size 0-3 months on you as well.  They fit you really well length wise, but are still roomy elsewhere.  You wore size newborn diapers until you were about 3 weeks old.  Then we ran out and started using size 1 and they totally work!  Speaking of diapers, you've tinkled on both of us while being changed.  You're a quick little guy!

You had your first well check with Dr. Clapp on August 3.  You weighed 8lbs and 6oz and were 20.5 inches long!  You gained a whopping 3 pounds in the last month!  Dr. Clapp said you were very alert to be so young.

You are a very vocal baby.  You are constantly grunting, groaning or ahhing.  You want everyone to know that you are present!  When taking your bottle, you suck and smack through the whole thing.  This drives your daddy crazy! :)  You also have a very "manly" burp!

You love your hands.  They are constantly in your mouth.  We've tried using a paci but you really only want it at night.

You had your first bath this month!  You loved bath time!  You just laid in the water so content while you were bathed.  Afterwards, daddy rubbed you down in lotion and you loved getting a massage!

Your first official outing with Mommy and Daddy went extremely well!  We started by having dinner at Outback and then shopped at Babies R Us and Target, of course!  You got a little fussy towards the end of dinner, but only because it had been 2 hours and you were ready to eat too!  The rest of the time you slept so sweetly in your car seat and/or stroller.  We are glad that you love to ride and do really well in your car seat.

You have very good head control to be so young.  You are constantly lifting your head to look around.  On the flip side, you're not a fan of tummy time.  You tolerate it briefly, but then begin to freak out.  We're working on that.  You do enjoy playing on your play mat though!

You absolutely LOVE being outside!  You certainly didn't get this quality from your Moma! You can be fussy and screaming your head off and the instant we walk outside, you quiet down.  We've been taking you on walks around the neighborhood and it knocks you out.

You don't pay much attention to Jaxxon and Brenna yet but they are still completely fascinated by you, especially Jaxxon.  I know you will love them once you get a little older!

Lawson, you are a complete joy and have completed our family!  You are such a sweet, cuddly baby!  We love you so much and cannot wait to watch you grow!  Love, Moma and Daddy
